What does ‘Verified’ mean?
A verified professional has provided us with important documents, such as: insurance, DBS checks, first aid certificates and other relevant documents where applicable. We check these documents before awarding The Bark Mark Verified status.
Does being verified guarantee the quality of the service?
No. Verification confirms that a professional has met our verification requirements at the time of assessment. We always recommend arranging a meet and greet to ensure they’re the right fit for you and your dog. We can help you do this if you have found a professional who you think is suitable.

How often are documents checked?
We monitor document expiry dates and remind professionals when renewals are due. If documents expire and aren’t renewed, their verification status will be removed.
Do you carry out DBS checks?
No. We don’t carry out DBS checks ourselves, but we verify that the professional has provided a valid DBS certificate.
Can I leave a review?
This is something we’re planning for the future. Our priority is providing a trusted verification service with everything in one place for dog care.
Is there a fee to use The Bark Mark?
No. Searching for verified professionals is completely free for dog owners.

Why should I join The Bark Mark?
The Bark Mark helps you stand out by showing potential customers that you’ve met our verification standards. It builds trust before you’ve even spoken to a client.
What documents do I need to provide?
Depending on the services you offer, we may ask for:
- Public liability insurance
- DBS certificate
- Canine first aid certificate
- Driving licence or photographic ID
- Boarding licence (where applicable)
- Other relevant documentation
How long does verification take?
Most applications are reviewed within a few working days, provided all required documents have been submitted.
What happens if one of my documents expires?
We’ll send reminders before documents expire. You’ll simply need to provide us with your renewed document to maintain your verified status.
Can anyone become verified?
Anyone can apply, but verification is only awarded once we’ve reviewed the required documents and they’re valid.
Will I receive a badge?
Yes. Once verified, you’ll receive a digital Bark Mark Verified badge to display on your website and social media.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. You can cancel at any time. If your membership ends, your verification badge and listing will be removed.
Does The Bark Mark guarantee I’ll get new customers?
We can’t guarantee enquiries, but verification helps you build trust and stand out from non-verified professionals.
Can I update my profile?
You cannot directly update your profile yourself, but if you contact us we can update your business information, services, photos and contact details whenever needed.
What happens if my verification is withdrawn?
If required documents expire or no longer meet our standards, your verified status may be suspended until updated documents are provided.
